About The Florida Communications Unit

The Florida Communications Unit was established after the 2016 hurricane season, to support the State of Florida Emergency Support Function 2 (ESF2). The unit provides field incident communications support for planned and unplanned incidents, under the Information and Communications Technology Branch (ICT). 

In addition we support exercise, planning, preparedness and training activities throughout Florida and beyond to enhance and evolve interoperable communications. Numerous agencies, professional and select volunteer resources across Florida serve as part of the communications unit, who are qualified or seeking qualification under the ICT branch position descriptions. 

Resources have deployed on major incidents annually as approved by  Florida's SWIC:
