Training

The Florida Communications Unit Supports the Florida Division of Emergency Management with Incident Communications position training. Courses offered include Communications Unit Leader (COML), Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOMM), and our Flagship program, the Florida Disaster Communications School / All Hazards Communications Technician (COMT).

These training opportunities are offered annually to prepare individuals to begin the qualification process, under ESF2 and/or the All Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) pathways in Florida. Personnel and select volunteers that attend state sponsored COMU training are assigned in many capacities. These range from 911 telecommunicators, center managers, US&R communications specialists, Mutual Aid Radio Communications (MARC) teams, agency radio technicians, first responder personnel and regional Incident Management Teams.

FLCOMU assists in planning, hosting and supporting annual communications drills and advanced training evolutions (MARConi).
